GIFTS I MADE FOR CHRISTMAS

Thought I would show you the clutch bag I made for my friend Gala for Christmas. This is a pattern from the last Crazy Quilting magazine that Pat Winters put out. If you haven't seen her magazines you should get some copies. They are great! Full of eye candy, great patterns and artists that show all kinds of fun things to do.

The girl shown here was also from Pat Winters. I love olive green and purple. My favorite colors. The lace shown here is some that I painted just for this project. I also dyed the ribbon.

The back was some material that I had, it was a sample. But it worked fine. I had so much fun making this little bag. I want to make me a bag to carry my phone next. And I must make one of Pat's BoHo bags. That's when I can find some time. Thank's for the pattern and the magazine Pat.

This gift was made for another friend Brenda. She saw one something like it in the Antique Mall, but it was a Christmas one so I made her one for all year. It was made from an old shelf that had come apart. It worked perfect.

I am always looking for these old door knobs and face plates. They work on lots of things.

Brenda was going to put this at her front door to welcome her friends. I had fun painting this for her. Hope she enjoys it.

NEW BLING FROM THE ESTATE SALE

Thought I would show you some of the bling I got at the estate sale today. The top two are pins and the bottom ones were for shoes.

I think they are all very vintage.

The pictures are not as good as I would like, but rhinestones are hard to get. Isn't this one great!!!!

I used a flash on this one. It does show the bling.

NEW THINGS I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON

This is a window that I have been working on to display jewelery in the mall. The top window has a fan in it and I decoupaged orchid rice paper behind it. The fan shows different stages in a girls wedding. The bottom window I took a piece of poster board and glued antique lace all over it. Then added bits of jewelery and beads. The hooks are for holding the jewelery. I added a wire to the top to hang it and another wire in the middle to display vintage clip earrings. I think it will make a very good display. I have lots of vintage jewelery and it sure needs to be sold.

And this is my attempt to make a little shoe. I used all vintage material for it. I had a little baby shoe so I cut me a pattern from it. The pink lining was from an old gown that I got at an estate sale. I kind of crazy quilted the lace on the lining for the top of the shoe.

I covered a piece of card board with the pink lining and put inside the shoe to give it some shape.

And last of all I added the pearl buttons. It looks just like a little vintage baby shoe.
I just loved the little shoes that Dawn and Lisa made so thought I would see what I could do. They are really fun to make.

We had rain today!! I was so happy to see all that wet stuff falling from the heavens! Now for the real problem.... I don't know what or how I did it, but I deleted all my favorite blogs that I follow. I still have the thing that says my favorite blogs, but I don't know how to get them back. I need Karen. I emailed her, but haven't heard. If someone can help me please email me or tell Karen I need HELP!!! We finish up our Estate Sale tomorrow. It was really a GREAT sale. I got sooooo much old lace and some old clothes, plus a lot of furniture. I may put some of the lace on my Etsy soon. Some of it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Have a great Sunday!

My New Baby

I wanted to let everyone know I have a new baby in my home. She arrived at my house about 5:o0 pm yesterday afternoon. Her name is Miss Lacee. Next thursday she will be 9 weeks old. Last night she slept all night in her basket bed right next to mine. At about 6:oo this morning I took her outside and when she had finished her business, she was ready to play. That took place for about an hour then it was time to sleep again. Tomorrow she is going on her first outing. We are going to Lone Star Antique Mall. Everyone is so excited to meet her. I'll let you know how our outing goes tomorrow.

CHANGING THE BOOTH IN THE MALL

This is the pillow that I showed you the other day. I had just started it.

And I think I have showed you this chair before. This chair is over 100 years old. I had to work on it. But it sure looks good now. And I have about 6 more.

REDO ON LAMPSHADE

This is a lampshade that I had dressed in pink some time ago. I put it in the mall, but it just sat there. I was told to change the pink to cream or white. So I tea dyed some silk and made a new rose. Also dyed some of the lace. We will see if that helps.

I am going to the mall today and will take a few pics as I changed everything last week. Put in new things and took some out. Also added some new color.

ANOTHER NEW ROSE AND BABY SHOES

I finished another new rose this morning, so thought I would post it. I will be putting them in the mall tomorrow. This one is silk with tulle and leaves made from crushed velvet. And little yellow shoes I found at an estate sale. They are so sweet. Someone has already claimed them site unseen. I'll email her to take a look.

TWO MORE NEW FLOWERS

Thought I would show you the roses I made yesterday. This one is a pale blue with antique lace leaves and antique lace trim. I added little pearls all over. These are corsages too.

This one has three twisted rolled roses with antique lace all around. I added bling beads to the front. I just bought some off white crushed velvet to make some more flowers. I'm really getting into flower making. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend!!

New Flowers for the Mall

I have been making a few flowers the past couple of days. This one today, it is made from pink crushed velvet. I put some antique lace in the back and the leaves are green crushed velvet with the embroidery to give them highlights. And it had to have a little bling with a rhinestone button. It is a pin that I will be selling in my booth.

This one I made a couple of nights ago. I took it to the mall to show a couple of friends and now I am holding it for a lady. It has part of an antique collar in the shape of a half circle on the back. And green organza ribbon leaves. I added a few stamens in the center of the rose and some beads hanging at the bottom. This one is crushed velvet too with a pin on the back. The blues look much lighter in person, with lots of highlights.

This is some more of that pink crushed velvet. I added some antique lace around the edges of the rose. I love this lace, it was on some material lace and was so old it was coming apart so I cut out the designs. They are beautiful. The leaves are a light golden organza ribbon. Also a pin on the back

The next two flowers are made out of paper pattern sheets. I have these two started and will finish them up in the morning. Need to wrap the stem with some floral wrap and maybe add some more little beads and for sure some glitter.

NEW TREASURES

Here are some new necklaces that I have been working on. It was really a lot of fun. This one takes me back to grade school when I used to wear a skate key around my neck. I always skated at recess. I love those kind of memories.

This one was a pin of a lady that I put on a flattened out spoon and added an old earring. Other earrings and beads on the chain.

I love making things like this. All the beautiful lace. This one is a lovely jar to store earrings or other jewelery.

And don't you love this little bird bottle. The top was already there so I just added some lace, beads and bling.

Had to make the back elegant too.

These are my fork easels. I have been making these for about seven years now and I saw they turned up in one of the Sumerset mags. They are so neat for light weight pics.

NEW PILLOW IN PROGRESS

This is a new pillow that I started a couple of days ago. I am using whites and creams and all muted colors in the embellishments. I put my silk ribbon in a brown dye bath to help mute the brightness of the colors. The butterfly is one that I painted some time ago. I'll post again on the progress.

MY NEW VALENTIES

Today I have been busy making a couple of valentines to put in my booth. If I ever get to get out and go to the mall. We still have ice everywhere and I'm not getting out of my drive way until it is gone or very mushy. A few days ago I was looking at Sharon's blog "My Vintage Studio" and she listed some beautiful vintage valentines to share with us. And my two valentines are made with her beautiful valentines. So I thought I would let everyone enjoy them too.
I love this beautiful lady with her gorgeous hat.

The feathers are some I picked up this summer over at Rick's. They live buy a canal and the ducks come to his house to eat. They are all so beautiful.

This is the second valentine. I used a white hanky, red lace on burlap. Made a rose out of net and one of my moffits.

Don't you love the pearls around the outside edge. I know I sure had fun making them. Thank you Sharon for sharing. I have so many of your vintage postcards and valentines. Hope everyone is staying warm in this winter ice storm. They are saying we may get snow tomorrow night. I'm ready for the 70 degree weather to come back. NEW TREASURES FOR THE ANTIQUE MALL

Today I thought I would show you what I have been up to here lately. This is one of my pretties that I put in the mall a few days ago. I went to one of Lisa's classes and learned to make this little sweetie. Here is an altered art bottle, I love the lavender!

And a sweet valentine..... It will be here soon.

An old door part with Bible verse...

Here are a couple of little cabinets that I shabby chic today. They will look very sweet with some baskets in the shelves. This little round table got the same treatment. It has a glass that goes on the top. Think I will put some cards or something under the glass when I put it in the mall. She has some little metal shoes to put on each foot.

These are my Cottage Cream frames..... Most of my frames have sold so I had to fix a new supply.

Another Cottage Cream frame. All of my decor is either Cottage Cream, Shabby Chic, or French Distressed Black.
Sunday I went to Arlington to get some groceries and ran in an Estate sale that was ready to close. I found a deal on all this furniture. This coffee table I got for my living room. I sold my cottage sofa the other day and now have a victorian sofa. So I needed a pretty coffee table. Think this one will do nicely.

I think this night table is from the forties. I will probably paint it Cottage Cream or Shabby Chic for my booth.

The lamps are so pretty..... I will add tea dyed lace to the shades and my paint the gold to a Cottage Cream. Really change them up.

And these little tables are from the forties too, at least I think. Think my aunt had a pair of these when I was a little girl. I will probably leave them the way they are. They were a little wobbly, I fixed one today and will fix the other one tomorrow. The glass on the floor goes on top of them. They are just darling.

MY NEW ADVENTURE AT THE MALL

Welcome to "Tattered Elegance". This is my own booth in Lone Star Antique Mall. I am still moving in, but thought I would give you a glimpse of it now. This is the sign I made with the name of my booth. It is the foot board of a twin bed that I found on the curb. I painted it "Cottage Cream" and filled in the name is shades of purples with some purple flowers. All my furniture will be Cottage Cream along wth most of the decor. I would like to do the walls darker, but everything takes time.

I also need a wall on this side of the booth. Maybe later.

This is an antique shelf that Rick spray painted and I added the cream. It sold the first day it was in the mall.

I have another shelf that I am working on that will take the place of this one. It will hold a lot more things and will look a lot better.

I bought this bakers rack from the lady that had the booth before me. It is iron and I love it. Need to add some cream to it.

This is a lock box that I made to hold my jewelery. My first attempt at making something out of wood.

My walls really need some work. I will be moving a large vintage chest in to sit on this wall before the weekend. I will finish it tomorrow.

I also bought a big fish bowl that sits on an iron stand, it will hold the lace I have for sale. And today I cleaned up my bird bath and it will hold all the mofits and buttons. I am so excited about having my own booth again. A lot of work, but sooo much fun.

NECKLACE & EARRINGS FOR CHRISTMAS

Thought I would share my latest adventures. I've been doing some jewelery for Christmas. I am using chip china chards and the beautiful ends of silverware. I have wanted to do this for quite a while. These are the first two that I have finished and it was a lot of fun.

I have some more chards ready to go, but need to cut off some more spoons. Guess I will do some more later. I am also going to make some mice ornaments, I did a lot of them a few years ago.

MY NEW EMBROIDERED ART BAG

Thought I would show you the new bag that I finally finished. Really this is the second time I have finished it. After I got it made the first time I didn't like the seam binding that I had on it. It was way to long and too much. So I took it apart and started over. Now it looks like I had meant for it too look. I found a picture of a bird that had been embroidered and in a nest so I made me a bird and transfered it on to muslin and started to embroidery. I added some leaves out of green velvet and embroidered the veins. Then just started adding all kind of yarns and threads to make him look like he was in a tree building a nest. The bird also has a couple of real feathers on him. Then I put the muslin on the bag and added the brown fringe trim around it. It looked to smooth so I held the steam iron above it and messed it up. I thought it looked much better. Then I added the tiger eye and turquoise beads. They matched everything perfect.

My friend Pat Hutchison gave me some of her material for the lining. I took my embroidery to show her and she told me she had the perfect lining. So she shared her material with me. She is such a sweet lady!

And my sweet friend Lisa, Tarnished and Tattered gave me the blue seam binding. It was a perfect match.

Now I am working on another piece of crazy quilting. Hope to finish it soon. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

FINISHED ART AND MEETING DAWN FACE TO FACE

Look at this sweet smile on this sweet lady. It was so nice to get to meet and visit with Dawn along with Lisa and Lori. The only thing missing was Charlene. We all got to talk about things we are doing and what we are going to do. Listening to Lisa and Dawn telling about the trip they were about to take and now I have had the chance to share in their pleasure by seeing the pictures on their blogs. Blogland is a wonderful place to be and meet such awsome people. What a joy to be with Dawn, the person that got me started blogging and explaining how to do it. She sent me many emails telling me just what to do to get things to work. Thank you, Dawn for always being their when I needed you.

I told you I would post this piece of art when I finished with it. Well I'm a little late, but it is finished. I love the beading on the tree. It is one of my favorite things on this piece.

NEW TEAPOT CHIMES FOR THE MALL

Here is one of my new teapot chimes that I made this week. I also made one for my daughter Kim and a little one for my son Kent. This one is a teapot, the one I made for Kim is a coffee pot and Kent's is a child's teapot. So cute. I will show you the others later. I will be working with Rick in the morning. We are repairing the feet on a victorian sofa that I found on the curb. Today I found a shelf, it would make a nice entertainment center, but we are going to paint it and put it in the booth for display. It will hold a lot of items.
Charlene and I went to lunch Tuesday and then went to JoAnn's to shop and play in the fabric. We both had a wonderful afternoon.

MY LATEST PROJECT

This is my latest project that I am working on. When I get the embellishing done I will put it in a gold ornate frame. I still have quite a bit more work before it it finished. Think I like doing these small projects. Soon as I finish I will be starting another lace pillow.

TEA DYED LACE AND MY NEW HAT

I had a girlfriend and her husband come to visit a few weeks ago. She brought me a few things from Virginia. One of them was a big roll of lace. I had bought a couple of rolls kind of like it a few summers ago. Anyway the past couple of days I have been tea dying all this lace. When I get it packaged up I will be putting some of it on my etsy store. Some of it is wide, some medium and some very small.......

And this is my hat. I don't wear a hat that much, but this one is sooooo pretty I just couldn't pass it up. Also I never spend what I paid for this one. But a girl has to splurge every once in a while. Even if it just sits in my room and I look at it. It will be worth it.

Don't you just love it. The crown is made out of burlap and it has real dried corn flowers on it for decoration. It is really me!!!

Well I'm off to the mall to see if we need to rearange things. I will be working there from 2 to 6 pm tomorrow. The booth belongs to my friend, but she works, so I work her hours in the mall. I don't mind, that way I can meet people and see everything that is in there. Can't think of a better job!!

And you girls in Texas, how about this weather today!!!!! I LOVE IT We finally got that cool spell. I have all the windows open today.............. Isn't it WONDERFUL......... Have a great day!

HERE IS THE SISTER PILLOW

This is the sister pillow for the one in my last blog. I have it in the Lone Star Antique Mall and this one will join her tomorrow. The lady is embroideried with black and white threads and some black threads on the flower pot. The roses are silk ribbon embroidery. Just that touch of class. A few pearl in her hair and one for her ear.

A NEW PILLOW

Don't you just love this image. This is an image that I transfered using freezer paper and muslin. I have fell in love with this method. I have some watercolor pencils and used them on her face. The rest has been embroideried using different threads. The bow on her neck is silk ribbon and little pearls on her hat and one little pearl on her ear. I had so much fun doing her that I have almost finished another lady done in black and white. Here is the pillow completed. I love all the different fabrics showing her off. The back is black. I'll show you the other one when it is completed.

ART PROJECTS I PUT IN THE MALL

This is a beautiful vintage frame that my friend Rachel brought me. She and her husband Dennis came last week to visit for a few days. She also brought another frame and a suitcase full of rubber stamps, some were mine that I had loned her several years ago and the rest was some that she had bought. So now I can really stamp. I even bought a new heat gun so I can emboss when I want too........anyway I haven't decided what to do with the other frame, but this one I made into "The Wedding".
I used old lace, mofits, music sheet and of coarse the wedding picture. Hope you like it. I have it hanging in my booth in the Lone Star Mall along with this next piece of art.

This is a nice wooden box that I found and dressed. I love the lady on the front. I used Lisa's technique to do the lady over the sheet music. Then I added little flower mofits and buttons on the front with the pearls.

Inside I used the music sheets and lined the edges with tatting and added this little bird to the top.

OUR BOOTH AT "LONE STAR ANTIQUE MALL AND MY GIFT FROM PAT WINTERS

Welcome to our booth, the table right in front is one that I fixed for Antique Alley at Cleburne and got rained out. So maybe it will find a new home here. Things have been selling good for us, better that I would have thought with the economy as slow as it is. And I love being back in this mall. Ronnie and Jennifer are the owners and they are the best!!!!

This is a stained glass window that belonged to my cousin. I cleaned it up and it looks awsome now..........

Now this looks more like my little corner of the world. My antique lamp with its new hat I made and the header that I painted the roses. Also made the insides of the dark framed picture. "The Wedding ".

And this is a large standing mirror in a wooden frame, very large and so pretty. Way too big for my little house. I have my wicker sewing basket for sale and some of the wooden frames that I have given that shabby chic look.

These are some of the book shelves that we have been working on. We will use this one to display small things for a while....................

This is an old organ that Rick gutted and we are using it for display and it is for sale too. We lowered the price on it today...................

This is a beautiful hand carved wooden trunk that is filled with needle work pillows. If I get my pillow done tonight that I am working on I may put it in the trunk tomorrow, if not I will next week......................

I was so happy when I opened the mailbox today, I had a package from Pat Winters. I had won one of her felted love brooches and it is beautiful............... Even the envelope was wonderful. This humming bird looks like it was made from a lot of butterfly stamps. It is the coolest thing. Then we have the see through packaging with all the lovely stamping, and it was sewn up. I hated to break the threads, but I had to, I wanted to see that pin.

Then I could see the pin. It was incased in a see through package. Beautiful!!!!!

And this is what I was waiting for.........The beautiful felted love brooch on one of Pat's pretty cards. This girl really does things up right.

Thank you Pat, I loved getting your gift. You know I am one of your biggest fans, I would love anything you made. Just wanted to let you and everyone know how much I LOVE this little brooch. You MADE my DAY!!!! Thank you again.

NEW LAMP SHADE FOR OLD LAMP

I want to thank Lori "Katie's Rose Cottage and Rebecca "A Gathering of Thoughts" for my new lamp shade. Lori showed her new lamp shade last week, made from a tutorial that Rebecca gave us. I loved her lamp shade and went to see Rebecca's tutorial and thought I would make me one. It turned out so good and was very easy to do. You must all try this if you have some lamp shades that need dressing up. I covered the background with an old curtain that I had tea dyed. In fact I tea dyed all the lace that I used on the shade. The trim is some flat lace I have and the front ornament came off an old wedding dress. I also tea dyed some white fringe.

Don't you just love the vintage look of the lace and trims?

Here it is with a light bulb in it. All lite up to go to the mall for sale. I am putting some of my things in the Lone Star Antique Mall. One of my friends has a booth that she is sharing. The scarf that the lamp is sitting on will be in my Etsy today.

THIS IS MY 100TH BLOG

This is my 100th blog, thought I would never get there and just this past week I reached over 100 followers. I just love this blogging and all the friends that I've made since I started. I want to thank you Dawn for encouraging me and helping me. You will never know how much it meant to me to have you there to call on when I was stuck and that happened often. I'm still not good with this computer, but at least I have a lot of fun with it.

These are some things that I found at a couple of Estate Sales not too long ago. Thought I would share some with all of you.

I have been collecting watches, one of these days I'm going to make something with them.

And look at these little shoes. The little slippers are sooooo pretty and the other one must have lost its mate. Oh well, it looks good enough to stand alone!!!

A GIFT OF MY LADIES FOR YOU

These are some pictures of beautiful calendar ladies from 1894. I bought them in an antique mall here in Fort Worth, the lady was going out of business and she had been selling them for $25 each, but that day she was having a half price sale so I got both for that price. I really couldn't afford to pay that much, but Ladies, pictures or figurines are my weakness, so I put it on my credit card and that was several years ago. I have been looking for them for months, I knew I put them in a folder, but couldn't remember what I did with it. Well a couple of nights ago I was going through some things and there they were. I was so happy. So I thought I would share them with all of you. I think they are soooo lovely......hope you do too.

LISA'S CLASS AT PAPER COWGIRLS

I was sooo lucky to get to go to The Paper Cowgirls. My good friend Lori, at Katie's Rose Cottage had planned to meet her husband in Vegas, so she called me and gave me the most welcome gift, of her day at Paper Cowgirls. I could go and spend all day Friday with two of my other best friends Charlene and Lisa and then attend Lisa's class. What a friend, what a GIFT! I have known Lori for quite a few years and she is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever know. She reminds me of my daughter, Kim and I kind of love her like a daughter. She is so pretty, sweet and talented. I would take her as a daughter anytime. Anyway, thank you so much Lori, you made my friday a wonderful day.

Here are a couple of the kits that Lisa made for us. Each one was so pretty. Thank you Lisa for making this a beautiful class.

These are the jewels that I came home with plus a lot of knowledge on how to make other things. The class was awsome and I met so many nice Paper Cowgirls.

This one I love learning to do. I have a lot of family pictures that I will be using this method on. This photo was a copy of a picture in an old scrap book that belonged to my aunts sister-in-law. She was a school teacher that never married. My aunt took care of her in a nursing home as her private sitter. After my aunt had been working for a while she met the ladies brother and before long they married. Now you know how I came by the scrap book. In the back of the scrap book she had saved many family pictures. This was one of them, you know this might be my uncle when he was a baby. She didn't tell who they were

This is my transparency that Lisa gave me to work with and the finished look. I loved learning to do this. There are so many possibilities. If you get a chance to take this class it is very worth while. Lisa is a great teacher!!

This is one of the beautiful bags that Lisa made for all the students in her class. It held pictures, laces, fabrics and all kinds of goodies for us to work with. And each one looked a little different. This was my bag. Isn't it wonderful? I met so many nice sweet ladies, Jan, at Polkadotbarn and Jodie, at everything vintage. These I got cards from. Hope you visit their blogs, both very nice ladies.
After the day of playing in crafts we all went to a wonderful dinner of fried fish and chicken. Even had some fried pickles. Afterwards we all headed to the Antique Malls. We went from top to bottom in two malls and then hit the scrapbook store. Everyone seemed to have a ball. When we got back to the hotel I headed back to Fort Worth. But what a wonderful day!!!

THERE'S A PARTY AND I'M LATE

There is a party going on here and you are invited. Hope you will join all of us showing off the places where we create. I'm a little late today, I have been fighting alergies all week and they just seem to be gettingd worse. But I just had to join in the party!! This is the west wall of my studio. As you can see I have a red studio. This was a bedroom for my aunt when she was living with me and I thought I would keep it red for a while. It does give out energy. The chest holds some of my fabric to make pillows and things. The plastic containers hold some of my crazy quilt fabric and the plastic caddie holds my sewing supplies while the vase on top holds all of my tatting. I love my tatting!!

This is a better view. The old T.V. lets me watch HGTV when I'm working. Need to make my friend a new dress. The baskets hold ribbon, crochet and some material. Patterns and books on the bottom shelf. Along with my surger.

My desk is on the north wall, there is a window on the west at the left side of the desk. I like it since I have a lot of light there. Don't know what happened to my desk, I lost it.

On the east wall is another plastic container holding crochet, fabric and on top a train case holding all my thread for the machine. The chest was my aunts and I keep it for overflow things.

This shelf sits beside the chest . I store all my wooden thread spools, crochet and ribbon in some of these jars. Different kinds of threads, ribbons and things in the containers. Small mofits in the blue box, they are special and below it is fringe.

On the next shelf is some of my books. Mostly the ribbon embroidery and crazy quilt books. The ginger bread metal tin holds my good buttons.

These last shelves hold my prized possessions, my old tattered and bridal lace. I love to collect or a some say hoard old lace. My main objective when I go to sales is finding old lace, buttons, tatting, and crochet. I also love embroidery work. I have a container of that on the bottom shelf too.

The bottom table holds fabric and the top one has another train case with old buttons. The top has one of my favorite lamps on it.

And here is my old singer sewing machine. I bought it a couple of months ago to do some crazy quilting . I love the beautiful stitch that the old machine makes. When I make other things I have a portable machine. It is singer too.

THINGS I'VE LISTED ON MY SELLING SPOTS

I have been finding quite a few things that I will be listing. I will let you know when I list some more.

Today I made a valance for my studio. I will be on Karen Valentin's, Where Blogger's Create next Saturday. Hope everyone will stop in to see my new studio. I have spent a lot of time getting it ready. I have painted everything in there except my desk, sewing machine and a chest that is that French Provencial look. Rebecca will probably like it. It kind of matches what she is working on now.

Tomorrow I am going back to Rick's to finish up the desk. And we are going to start on a table. This is a large dining room table. We love the legs, but the top is ruined. Rick is going to make a new top and I am going to get to learn how he does it. I may get to learn how to use a router. I bought one back in the winter at a yard sale. It had only been used one time and I got it for $25.00. Craftsman!! He also has some shelves for us to work on. I'll keep you posted as we finish. I always take my camera.

THE CHEST IS FINISHED

Well here is the chest. It is finished and in the house. That's why the picture is so dark. I think it turned out great and Linda liked it so that was what counted. Today I worked on the desk again. I have it finished except for the doors. I will finish them up tomorrow. Then I will that a picture of it. Sure wish this was mine. Don't you just love all this ornate stuff on it?

Here is a picture of the side. It looks good too. She is going to put a gold mirror above it. It will look great.

I love working with Rick. I am learning a lot. Hope all of you enjoyed the chest and come back tomorrow for the desk.

SEE WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS

This is a desk that belongs to a friend of mine, Linda, and she wants it white. So I started sanding on it yesterday. Did some of the drawers and this morning, Rick, another friend suggested we strip it. So that's what we did. He started stripping the doors while I worked on the chest below. These are the pictures as we started this morning.

This is her chest, Rick painted it Tuesday and I put a light coat of MinWax on it, Linda said she didn't want it too dark. Well it was too light so I put another coat on this morning and it looks a lot better. I'll show thoses pics later. It is drying over night and Rick will spray a sealer on it in the morning. The ornate features on this chest are beautiful and when I added this coat this morning you could really see them. Just hope Linda likes it.

This is one of the two drawers, they are so awsome!

And here are the pictures later on this afternoon, after a lot of sweat. It was really hot out there. We still have some work left for tomorrow, but it is really looking good. And thanks to Rick, I am learning a lot about wood, tools and stripping furniture. He really knows what he is doing when it come to restoring furniture.

This is some of the clean up. But doesn't the desk look good.

I'll take some more pics tomorrow and show you the progress. I think this is some of the neatest furniture I have worked on.

REMEMBERING OUR MILITARY HEROS

Today we must remember the hero's that gave their lives for us, so that we can live in a free country. And today we must pray for the men and women that are putting their lives on the line for us to keep that freedom. Let's also pray for the families of our armed forces and for the families that have lost loved ones. And last let us all pray for our Country, the USA. I believe she needs more prayers now than she ever has, pray that we can get back to a country that puts God first in everything. Pray that God will touch our leaders and give them the courage to heal our country.
I pray that God will bless all of us and change the hearts of all who does not want the best for our Country.

HERE ARE A FEW TREASURES I FOUND

Here are a few things I have found at garage sales or estate sales lately. Don't you just love this black and white silhouette. I have always loved to see pictures of ladies in swings, and this one is so romantic. And this black frame behind it is a vintage metal frame. These will probably be put in my etsy or on Tattered Elegance & Close Creations soon. This is some jewelery and door parts that I found. The necklace is made from shells, so pretty. And the door parts are very old and unique.

Don't you just love the little bird pins? The pink and the black ones are earrings.

When I look at these door parts, I see Lisa, wondering what kind of ideas would be going on in that creative mind of hers. I have more old door parts that I will be selling soon. And some wooden things that I will show in another post.

IT'S LATE, BUT FLEA MARKET PICTURES

Here are my pictures from the 15 Mile Antique Alley Flea Market. As everyone here knows it rained that weekend. Friday was pretty and I did very well. I started setting everything out early Friday morning and people came and started buying. I just knew it wasn't going to rain. I had been saying we were going to have a good rain free weekend, but I guess the Lord has something better in store for me. Anyway he gave me a great Friday and I got to go to some of the booths at Whipp Farms. I met Pam, from The Altered Muse and saw Debbie English. She sells things for little girls. Clothes and furniture. She had her best weekend. These girls had tents and the rain didn't hurt them. I also met a Leigh, she is a painter and tatter. I ordered some sun bonnet sue girls tatted in pink. She also sent a pink heart. She does needle tatting, and I had a needle kit that teaches you to tat and I am learning. So far I have done two rings. I have a set of two books and they said when I finished the second book I would be able to tat any pattern I wanted too. I hope that is right.

Right now, I am redoing my studio. I have painted all the furniture in there except for one shelf. I am sorting all my lace and fabrics. I have been through nine grocery bags full of laces the past couple of days. I want it all set up so I can start doing some crazy quilting. Later I will show some pictures.

AN ANTIQUE CHAIR MAKEOVER WITH CRAZY QUILT

This is my little antique chair that I am taking to the 15 Mile Antique Alley that will be going on this coming weekend. I will be going over to take a load today. Will start setting up on Wednesday and Thursday. The sale starts in Cleburne on Hwy. 4 and goes to Maypearl. People are set up on the side of the road in front yards and in pastures. If you are looking for a good time this weekend come on over. I am setting up on Main street in the 700 block. The house is gray and it is between two restrants. One is a Mexican restrant. This is a pic of the way it looked when I took it out of the shed.

I had to put a bottom in it. So I used a piece of plywood that I had in the shed.

And these are some pics of the crazy quilt seat cushion. I couldn't embellish it too much with it being a seat. It all had to be flat embellishments.

I made the little pansy and took the blue bird pattern from and old vintage scarf I had.

Did a lot of feather stitchs in here. I love feather stitches.

The girl is from a piece of material I had. And the green lace came off a dress I bought just for the lace. The pink flower lace is a piece that I hand painted with dye. I loved the way it turned out. And I have six more of these chairs. Maybe I'll get some more done one of these days. MY LITTLE TABLE IS FINISHED!!!

This is my little table that I have been working on. I've had it for several years, just haven't got around to doing anything with it. I had planned on painting roses on it, but decided that would take too long. So after I primed and painted it I thought about decoupage. I have some beautiful rose wall paper and added it to my table. Then I used gel stain to give it that shabby look. Also added some sealer to the top to make sure the paper would not come off. I love the way it turned out. Down below is what it used to look like.

The light is making it look too white. The two pics above is the color. And here is the start of the project. It was looking pretty sad. But I had high hopes for it.

I wanted to show you my pine tree in my front yard. I planted wisteria vines all around it about seven years ago and this is what it has turned into. I posted pictures of it last year, but I just have to show it every year. The people driving down the street stop and want to know what kind of tree it is or the take pictures. It really is breath taking right now. But the petals have already started falling and they won't last much longer. The sweet fragrance is wonderful and it comes into my living room when the wind is blowing. I love this vine. I also have a Lady Banks vine in the back yard. It has been blooming little yellow flowers. It is not as healthy as my wisteria. But after I get my new fence up in the back yard I'm going to start feeding her. Then she will really start growing.

CRAZY QUILT MACHINE DRAWERS

This is my machine drawers as I found them. They looked pretty bad, but I knew their was hope for them. They just needed some tender loving care and I knew just what to do. I got into my material stash and found my pink and green material and took it to the machine to crazy quilt. Then I started the fun work. Using my silk ribbons to embroidery, beads to make the lace stand out, buttons and rhinestons to add just the right bling. I turned these drab drawers into pure elegance. Hope you enjoy them too. I had so much fun working on them.

I hand dyed the lace with a paint brush......

Added embroidery to high light this rose and the the stem..... Added beads to the center of the silk ribbon rose.

Added seed beads to the lace to give it texture...

Added colored rhinestones to the butterfly..... And french knots on some of the lace.....

A couple of buttons just for fun........And trim and lace around the edges.....

MY CHAIR IS FINISHED

Here is a few pics of the curb chair I found. It has been sanded, primed and painted. I reupolstered it with this pretty floral fabric. Looks like a brand new chair. Don't you just love it when you can turn something ugly into something pretty. This will look so nice in someone's sun room or covered patio. This is how it looked when I found it perched on top of a bunch of limbs on the curb. But she was sturdy and just needed some love. The night stand in the back is the one I finished a few blogs back. It was a curb find too. I just love it when people put their things on the curb. Especially if I come by and find them. This is a little jewel that I found at a yard sale yesterday. I love wicker!! This one is not old, but it has some good lines on it and the cushion is pretty. And I don't have to work on it.

We have a warm day today, its very windy, but tomorrow it is suppose to be cold. No yard sales this weekend. I will be glad when the cold weather stays in Canada or where ever it comes from. We are suppose to be in spring tomorrow, not winter.

SOME THINGS I'M WORKING ON

These are a few of the pieces I'm working on right now. The high chair needs some wood putty and sanding before painting. The little victorian shelf is now finished. It will go to the barn for storage tomorrow.

This little table has now been primed and is ready

for painting. I plan to put some decopodge on the top. Don't know just what yet, but something pretty. I had planned to paint roses on it, but painted roses don't sell here anymore at the flea markets. So I'll try something else. This is a metal cabinet that I've had for several years. I need to spray paint it tomorrow. These were all primed today and ready for their paint tomorrow. This little table is one of a pair of nesting tables. The other one is already finished. I did it and a victorian small coffee table earlier in the week.

Today I bought a wicker foot stool at a yard sale. It has a pillow on top. I thought it was so pretty. Just gathering up for Antique Alley.

CURB SIDE CHEST AND MY LITTLE EGGS

This is an old chest that I found on the curb about a week ago. I had went to the grocery store and was on my way home, it was a little dark and I thought I saw something on the side of the road. So I backed up to take a look. And sure enough there was a chest. It was a pityful sight. I struggled to get it in the back of the van, it was quite heavy with the drawers in it. And very dirty. I didn't try to check it out until the next day. When I took it out of the van I could see it had good bones so I grabbed the vacuum and Mean Green and started to clean it up. Then I got my mouse and started sanding. It really looked pretty good so I brought out the primer and gave it a coat, then a coat of oops paint that I found for six dollars. I added a bottle of burnt umber to it to get it to the shade I liked. This is how it turned out after two coats, two coats of wax and some different knobs that I had. The pics look a little darker than it really is. My furniture in my bedroom is Navaho White and it is pretty close to that. I was going to put this in the Antique Alley at Cleburne next month, but I liked it so much I decided to keep it for a night chest to sit beside my bed. It looks good in there and gives me two more big drawers for storage.I took some pics of it before I cleaned it up, but they were not very good and I deleted them and forgot to take some more. I don't remember things too well these days. The drawers are lined with old newspaper from 1875. It was some kind of wall paper that they put in when it was made. Looks goods and I loved reading what was on the paper.Thought I would also show you my little eggs. As you can see by the dime in there with them they are pretty small. I made these while watching T.V. Saturday afternoon. They have several coats of Light Victorian Teal on them. Think they turned out pretty cute. I am going to start putting some things in my other blog tatteredelegance&closecreation, its on my side bar under my selling spots. I will probably list my eggs on there.

I am working on a couple of chairs and will post them as soon as I finish. I also found an old victiorian book shelf Sat. at a yard sale for ten dollars. It needs some work, but I'm anxious to get started.

Thought I would show you my little heart bottle this morning that I made a few days ago. I've had her in a box ready to work on but just kept putting it off. She looks very romantic.This is the back of the bottle. Wanted her to look good back there too .The rose is one I hand made to fit the bottle.And these little cuties are the bling.Here is a pair of beautiful bling that I found last week. They will look good on something unless I chose to sell them.And my last find is 20 pretty handles that I found at the goodwill a few days ago. I use these kinds of things on that curb furniture I pick up and transform.

MY FIND AT THE GOODWILL TODAY AND PICS FROM ART GROUP

This if my find today. I stop in the Goodwill anytime I am close to it just to see if they have something. And today they had this corner shelf. It sure was dirty, but I took some Mean Green to it and got off all the dirt and grime. I am going to give it a good sanding and some shabby white paint. This will make someone a good display shelf in and antique booth. I've got several things going right now, but should finish one or two this week.Here is a pic of Joanna and Cindy, I got this one just going around the room snapping shots. Thank you Joanna for hosting this wonderful night. I think everyone had a great time.In this shot Angela was showing us a new tip on adding color to a black and white. As you can see, she sure had the attention of Lori, Lisa, and Audra. Oh yes, Audra is a new comer to the group and to the Metroplex. Hope you come back everytime. This girl can draw, we need to get her some watercolor pencils. She has talent, we just need to get her to get it together.LOLJoanne was organizing all her pics. She had a lot and worked on them for quite a while. And Cami was working on a little fairy. It is adorable! I'm sure she will post it when she is finished.Charlene and Cami talking over something. Probably thinking about hitting the food table. We had delicious cup cakes, Cami brought an impossible pie, very tasty, I brought some chips and dips and there was come chocolate candy or cookies I think. All was very good. I think everyone had a great time and can't wait for next month.

Tonight we are expecting snow again, I just hope we don't get much. I'm not a snow person, guess thats one reason I love Texas. But this seems to be our year to get that white stuff. Oh well, spring will be here soon, I saw my first blooms Sunday. A house down the street from me has a bush that is full of red blooms. It looks so pretty and springy. Also my vine has yellow buds on it and my rose bush is putting on leaves. Can't wait for that WARM weather.

I'VE GOT ANOTHER CURB SIDE FIND

Thought I would show you another one of my curb side finds. I found this a few months ago sitting on the curb. It had some leaves and very dusty. I cleaned up the lining and matress cover. Think I need to make a pillow and little cover for it. It had a little damage on the end. The weaving had come loose in a few places. So I got out the old trusty glue gun and put it back in order. So I guess this will make it to Antique Alley too. I think she is lovely!! Think she would make a great display piece for someones booth in an antique mall. Would hold lots of beautiful treasures.Hope you enjoyed looking at my little basket. Today I found another curb side find, a bed or at least the head and foot board of the bed. It is vintage, I think it was from the late forties or early fifties. The reason I think that is it looks like one my mother and dad had. It is even blond like the one they had. Only this one is not as elaborate as mothers. Hers was beautiful with two colors of wood. It was destroyed in the 79 tornado that hit Vernon, TX just before it hit Wichita Falls. It destroyed their home and almost everything in it. Wish we would have had some pics of the furniture, but we didn't take pics of our homes back then like we do now. I love to look back at how I have changed my home over the years. It has changed many time inside and out. I'll show the bed when I figure out what I'm going to do with it.

HOW IS THIS FOR A CURB SIDE FIND?

This is my curb side find. It was put out in the rain and looked like it was a good chair. Just needed a little TLC. I forgot to take pictures of it in its ugly duckling stage, but it had paint spattered all over it. But, thank goodness it was water based paint and I scrubbed it all off with one of those little nylon dish scrubbers. Looks pretty good. The seat was in good shape too, vinyl olive green, but I wanted flowers so I redid the cushion. I will be taking it to the Cleburne Antique Alley. It will be perfect for someone's desk and who knows I may run across one of those. Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday.

I FINISHED MY LITTLE VANITY CHAIR TODAY!!!!

Here are a couple of pictures of a little vanity chair that I found a couple of years ago at a garage sale. She has been waiting patiently in my shed forever, being pushed aside, thinking I'll never get to be pretty again. Well one day Lisa, at Tarnished & Tattered was over and we looked in my shed. She saw this dirty little pink chair and loved it. That made me think that I really needed to do something with this little lady. The metal part of the chair is wonderful and the wooden part was still in good condition. So I took some pictures and went to work. I spent several hours taking off the old fabric. It was so dirty and horrible. I used the fabric to cut some paper patterns, then cut the material, getting it ready for the new transformation. It took a couple of days to get the seat and back molded into the little pillow pockets. But when it was finished I loved it, hope you do too. I've got it completely ready to sell.

Well this is my little lady in all her glory. Hope you like her. I had such a good time dressing her up in all this new finery. She had went from dull and dirty to a lovely lady waiting for someone to love her as much as I do. Hope you have enjoyed my little trip today and now I will work some more on the antique wooden desk chair. I am ready to start the embroidery on the Crazy Quilted chair cushion. NEW FABRIC FOR AN OLD CHAIR

I have been working on a metal chair ripping the covering off. It had a pink cushion on the seat and on the back. Then I had to get all the grime off the metal. It has a great shabby chic look and I wanted to keep that. Today I went looking for some fabric, I went to several stores looking for the right look for the right price and I found this. I think it will look great when I get it finished. Right now I have two chairs and a set of sewing machine drawers all in progress. Will show you the out come of the metal chair hopefully this week. SWEET GIRL ON POST CARD

Thought I would share this sweet little post card with everyone. I thought she was so lovely. And the writing on the back will look good with some of your art too.

I have been spending the last couple of days working on one of my chairs. I made a new bottom for the chair and today I made a Crazy Quilt top for the cushion. Still need to do the embellishments and I will have to do something to the chair. I will either sand and stain or sand and paint. Since it is an antique I think I will do the stain. I'm taking pictures so when it is finished I will post it. I also finished up on my pottery that I was fixing. Need to wrap and pack it tomorrow and take it to the owner Sunday. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow and post it later. I worked on six pieces. Some I did over and over. Sometimes it takes quite a while to get it right.

I've been out of touch for a while. I was nursing an infection for a couple of weeks and then I fell into a bad depression. Think maybe it was just a BAD PITY PARTY. Any way thats what my son thinks. I talked to the nurse today and all the tests came back and everything is back to normal with the infection and I am taking a positive approach to everything now so I'm going to be fine and happy from now on. We are what we eat and WE ARE WHAT WE THINK! I for one am going to think before I open my mouth. Hopefully tomorrow I am going to get started working on an antique chair. I'm taking pictures of the before and I will show it when it is finished. I have six of these antique chairs and I want to get them all done and ready for the Cleburne Antique Alley this April. I've got a lot of work before that time and it will be here before we know. Time goes by so fast these days.

Here are some pansies I wanted to share with everyone. These came from an old book back in the 1800's I think. They are so pretty.

SOMETHING OLD IN THIS NEW YEAR

Today is the start of a brand new year and I thought I would show you something old, very old at this time. I love new things, but old things just really touch my heart. I wonder how many hands have touched this old book and how many students have looked up words here. This is an old dicitionary. Really I have never seen one like it. The pages are yellowed and brittle and the front cover is missing. But it will still give life to new creations, so in a way it will become new again. The pictures and maps are so colorful here.

I want to focus on this new year with only good thoughts about everyone and our country. Wishing love and peace around our world. We are all promoting love around our world with our crafting blogging friends. We are a group of women that love each other no matter what country we are from or what religion we come from. If only everyone could touch the love we all have for each other, if only everyone would build each other up instead of anger we would be living in a peaceful world. I pray that one day the fighting will stop and we can all be a peace. GOD BLESS US ALL!

My Christmas Wish is that everyone could find peace, show love and help our neighbors not just at Christmas time, but every day of the year.We need to remember that Christ came to our earth to save us, not just to rush around town buying gifts to put under that magical tree.We need to wake up each morning and thank God for the beautiful day that he has given us. Thank him for our families and friends, for the health and wisdom he has given to each of us.We need to prais him and be gracious to him in each and every thing we say and do. We need to keep him first and everything we say and do. If every one in this world could do that we would have a heaven on earth to live in. Let's all remember that Christ is the reason for the season, and remember it every day!

A CHANGE OF PLANS

A few blogs back I showed you this pic of a piece of CQ that I was making for a new eye glass case. Well my daughter Kim came over last Saturday and spent the day with me and she wanted me to make her a pillow out of it. So as any mother would do I started working on a pillow.This is the pillow that I made for her. As you can see I added some more embellishments. The picture of my mother and dad holding me when I was a baby really caught her eye. She was really close to my mom and dad. She was born on my mothers 40th birthday and was her first grandchild. I had bought a beautiful drape and thats what I made the pillow from and added the lace to the front. Below I will show you a few pics up close.Hope you like the pics. I think Kim will treasure this for a long time. She doesn't have any children so she will probably hand this down to my only granddaughter Payton. I love to make heirloom treasures to pass down to a new generation. Hope everyone is having a great time decoratering,shopping and going to Christmas parties. Hugs, Pat

SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS AND PAINTED LACE

Today I finished up the salt and pepper shakers that I had been working on. They are some old tarnished ones that I found at a garage sale. I remembered seeing some on Dawn's blog and tried it on mine. I used old photo's and in the other one I made a hand made silk ROSE with leaves. I like the bling in front.

And yesterday I was painting lace. I dyed all of these and lots more with rit dye, but I painted the dye on with a paint brush. I've got more to do but I thought I would give you a look.

Some of the things I've been up too lately

One of the things I've been doing is adding sheets of old patterns to my maniquin. I used a glue made of flour and water after reading one of Dawn's blogs. I used flour and water as a kid, but most of the time I use white glue mixed with water or mod podge now. But I have to tell you, I love the way this mixture turned out. This maniquin had the paper cording wrapped around her and it didn't look good. It was brown and some of it had come loose. I tore all that off several months ago. Then last week I decided to spruce her up. I use her to display clothes when I sell them on Craigslist. And she has a spot in one of my studios. I think she looks pretty cool.

I found a hat at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago. It had two roses and a bow on it. I loved the roses and wanted to try to make vintage roses, so I bought the had and took the roses off. One of the roses I tore up to make a pattern and see how it was made. This is a picture of the one I didn't tear up. Isn't it pretty.

This is the one that I made. I took the pattern I made and cut it out of an old pair of my pajamas. I loved the peachy orange color. And I had a piece of orange lace that I put in for the velvet. Thought I would let you see how it turned out. I want to try it again with some dupionie silk and see how it will turn out. Either way it was a lot of fun to work with.

PICS FROM THE ART DIVA'S NIGHT

Well here we are again at our Art Diva's craft night. Not everyone was with us, but we had fun anyway. Just missed Cami and Joann. Charlene got her round of pics too. We all had little projects we were working on. Charlene had a wonderful apron that she was altering and someone is going to be very happy!

Carolyn was working on a couple of beautiful Christmas wreaths, lots of bling. Joanna had an altered frame and she also brought some of her goodies from her Silver Bella trip. They were wonderful!! Can't remember what Jana was working on, probably a couple of things if I know her. She also had baked some brownies for us. Thanks Jana for the Sweets.

Lisa has bottles that she is always working on, have you seen her bottles. They are soooo awsome. I don't know where she gets the creative ideas she comes up with, but they are always grrrreat!! I love her work.

In this pic of Carolyn I think you can see the wreaths she is working on. They are both gorgeous. She is like me, likes the bling.

This is the crazy quilt piece I was working on. I am making an eye glass case for myself. I'll show it when it is finished.

At this time when our COUNTRY is in such a state and we are all wondering what will happen to our courages military guys and gals, what will happen to our jobs and healthcare, I go to my favorite verse and hold fast. Maybe it will hold you too!

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

And with God we cannot fail. May we all call on his HOLY NAME to BLESS this COUNTRY and the people that are fighting to keep her free and honorable. And to be THANKFUL for all the blessings he gives us. Our country has not been keeping GOD first and we need to turn back to him and lift him up in everything we do and say. MY LITTLE TREASURE & A QUESTION

I went off to get my usual coke this morning, I don't drink coffee, and on my way home I spotted a garage sale. So my van just naturally turned the corner and stopped in front of that yard. They didn't have much, but I did spy this cute little train case sitting on the floor. Just perfect for a makeover. So I grabbed it up, paid the lady a dollar and headed for home. I am leaving today to go back to Cleburne for a big yard sale. My van is loaded and ready to go, I took the first load on Tuesday. I loaded on it again all day yesterday and now it's time to go and set it all up. Another hard working weekend, but the weather is perfect so I don't care. I would just like to get rid of some of this stuff. Wish me luck! The question is further down.

The question has to do with this post card I found on CardCow.com. I found a print, a very large print of this man and his dog. It is a signed and numbered print. The question is do you know the artist. I am wondering if Timber Jack is the artist. Does anyone know? If you do please let me know.

This is my picture. A very nice rugged picture for a cabin or rustic home. Doesn't do too much for my shabby victorian nest.

ANOTHER TRADE DAY HAS COME AND GONE

CHEST FOR TRADE DAYS

This is the before picture of the chest. It is kind of a robin egg blue. So I sanded and got it ready for paint. I painted it yesterday and the results are farther down the page. The other things in the photo is a pink iron chair, but I am going to take it as is. And the corner of the shelf that is in the picture I painted it black today along with some large frames. I will distress and wax them all tomorrow. Sorry the first pic is so light. I took it outside and the sun was so bright.

This is the after. Painted black and then distressed and waxed. I added sheet music to the inside of the drawers. I like the look. Even changed out the drawer pulls from wooden ones to metal ones. These pics are kind of dark, I took them in the living room tonight and didn't have enough light. Sorry!

I sure have been working and I can tell it. My body is so tired. Sure will be glad when this is over. Then I only have one more sale. Again at Cleburne on Nov.6th. Hope if you live here you will pop by Jana's Collected Treasures for her 2nd Trade Day of the year. It will start about 8:00 next Saturday. Mark it on your calendar. I FINISHED TWO CHRISTMAS TREES FOR TRADE DAY

I have been working on several things for Trade Day at Jana's a week from Sat. Please pray for beautiful weather for us!! Last week I was pulling out things and putting price tags on. This weekend it is suppose to be sunny and I plan to paint a chest and shelf. Also have some things I need to clean up outside and I still have to make a trip back to Cleburne to get my tables and a few things I left there from the last sale. But yesterday I started working on these little trees and finally finished last night. I had so much fun making them I hope you love seeing them. This is one of my studio's where I work and it is really a mess, but I accomplished a lot in this mess.

Here is my little feather Christmas tree in lite up in all her glory!!!

This is the white feather tree without lights. I put pink bulbs all over it. Some I did the glitter on. I made lace roses and added to the ends of each limb then wrapped it in little pearls. I just love this little tree, it looks so shabby chic. Wouldn't this be sweet in a bathroom or entry room?

This is my little green tree. It has the regular all colors for Christmas on it. I love to decorate little trees and even big ones.

A FEW PICTURES TO SHARE

Thought I would share a few pictures with all of you today. I have been working for days trying to get everything ready for the Trade Day at Jana's the 24th. Time is passing fast and I still have a lot of work to do. I worked on a couple of Christmas trees today. One is green with the usual Christmas colors, the other one is a white feather tree with pink ornaments and pink lace roses and little white pearls. I'll try to get some good pictures tomorrow and show them to you. Now here are the pictures.

Can you believe this big eyed little lady is me. I think I was about two or nearly, didn't have much hair yet. But by the time I was three I had plenty. This is my only copy. Think I need to have some restore work on it before it all fades away.

ANTIQUE ALLEY TREASURES I FOUND

Thought I would show you a couple of the treasures I found at Antique Alley. These two vintage pin cushions. The heart shaped one looks very very old, the lace is exquisit and the bow has little knots tied in each loop, it is made of satin. I remember seeing the hat pin cushions when I was little. I figure it was made in the forties or fifties. The hat is pink satin with white net trim and the flowers are that velvet old kind. Both are soooooo pretty. And some time today I will be listing both of them in my etsy shop.

THE DIVA'S ART MEETING LAST NIGHT

Our group of ladies met again last night for a good time and creative ideas. I think everyone had a good time. As Jana told you we added a new face last night, Cammie, and we are all glad to have you in our group.
We all ate soup that Jana made and munched on punkin pie and muffins. I took my stash that I bought at the Antique Alley Flea Market and everyone loved it. I'll share it with all of you in a day or two.
Last night Charlene taught me to solder and I loved it. Soooooooo much fun. I can't wait to order my kit and get started on all kinds of things. Here are pictures of everyone in action and some of the creations that were finished last night. The solder is mine and I'm so proud of it.

THE ANTIQUE ALLEY FLEA MARKET AT CLEBURNE

Here are the pictures of the flea market I set up at in Cleburne. We wanted to set up on Thursday, but it rained all day. The sun came out Fri. and we put up the tables. We had a few light sprinkles on Fri. afternoon, none on Sat. and Sun. it was HOT. I really sold a lot of things, did so good I'm going back this weekend. I set up on Main Street so you get a lot of traffic.
It was really hard work, I was sooooo tired every day when we quit, but it was worth it. I've been loading my van this week and I went to get some new glasses while it was raining yesterday. I broke mine a couple of months ago and have been using reading glassed. Feels so good to be able to see the writing on the T.V.

PATRICK SWAZEY WENT HOME TODAY

I am very saddened today to hear about the death of Patrick Swazey. I loved to watch him in the movies and hear about his life with Lisa and the ranch. His time here was so short. I had been watching the news because I knew it was coming soon, I just kept hoping he was the one that could be healed. I will say my prayers tonight for his family, they were all real close and it will be hard for them. Poor Lisa will be lost. We are all going to miss this handsome, wonderful man.

MY LATEST SILVER FIND

I went to a garage sale last weekend and found this lovely silver bowl. It looks like a punch bowl to me. It's so large and pretty. I haven't taken any of the tarnish off of it yet. Haven't dedided what I'm going to do with it. But, I'm going to be setting up at the 15 mile Antique Alley at Cleburne next week. It maybe on one of my tables. That's one of the reasons I have not been blogging, I've been trying to get everything ready. I have already took one van full over to Cleburne and I have the van almost full again. I'm going to take it over Sunday and I'll take the last load when I go to set up the tables on Wed. next week. We will start setting up on Thurs., and sell thru Sunday. I will be on Main street in the 700 block. Hope to see some of you.

Hope everyone has remembered to pray for our country and the families of those lost in the fall of the Twin Towers. This is a sad day for all of us and always will be. I pray that God will bless you and our country.

CRAZY QUILT STOOL FOR CRAFTING NIGHT

Last night we had our first crafting get together at Jana's. And we all had a blast. So since I left my stool there I thought I would show it to you today. I looked for a stool at garage sales, but didn't find anything, so I tried the thrift stores, and over in a corner was this pityful little stool. But I had high hopes for it. I could see this vision of purple. So this is what I bought.

So I brought it home and started to remove the top. And after about four layers of fabric and a million staples I got to this. I sanded and painted getting it ready for that purple top.

Then one day I found my fabric, cut me a pattern and started crazy quilting. Then I got to the best part, putting the embelishments on. I did the crazy quilting on the machine, but all the rest was done by hand. It was really fun and I will probably do another project very soon. I have something in mind and since I am going to Antique Alley next month I should get started on it.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my stool. We all had so much fun last night. Charlene & Lisa worked on souldering projects, JoAnne was doing crazy quilting, Carolyn was working on a Christmas house, Jana was doing some mosiac, and I was working on a wind chime. I forgot to take my camera, but Jana, Charlene and Lisa were all taking pictures so I'm sure you will see some of our work. We can't wait for next month and work on something halloween. Should be fun.

WAR RATION BOOK NO. 3

This morning I stopped at a yard sale and this lady had her mothers old war ration book out for sale. Since it was old and we do things with old papers I thought it might be fun on some of the altered things we make. So I will post it and feel free to use it if you want to.

MY PIN COLECTION

I just left Candy's blog and she had these beautiful cameo's to show you. I loved all of them and thought I would show you my collection of pins. Some I received as gifts and some I bought. I've always loved butterflies, dragonflies, bees, well really all kinds of bugs.

The gold cameo was from my aunt and the black and white one from my grandmother, my grandfather found it when I was a little girl. I was there when he came home with it so granny said I should have it. The little blue enamel humming bird was a Christmas gift from my mother. The gold humming bird was one I gave to her. She loved humming birds.

The gold humming bird, the enamel one under it and the bee all belonged to my mother. She liked to wear them on her jackets, she was always cold. The yellow rose belonged to another one of my aunts. The butterfly I found at a sale and the dragonfly my cousin bought for me.

This pillow was a gift for one of my hospice patients. After she passed away she had her daughter sent it to me. I loved her work. Mother kept it on her bed, but after she passed away I decided to keep my pins on it. The big blue dragonfly I found at a garage sale and fell in love with it. The big bird with spread wings and red chest was another gift from my mother. The rest of the pins I found at garage sales or estate sales. I still pick up pins when I find them. I'm like mother I like to wear them on my jackets. And if I put the pillow on my bed I can enjoy them all time.

My Poem and A Day With Friends

Back in the eighties God blessed me with writing some poems and love letters. For a long time I had them framed and in my booth in the antique mall. Today reading a post from Traci from "Beaneath My Heart" made me think of some of my poems. The Tree was the first poem I ever wrote. I was cleaning house and all morning the first two lines was in my mind and I couldn't shake them. So that afternoon I sat down at my desk and wrote them down and the rest just followed. It was like someone else was telling me what to write. After that I did write a lot more. Then it seems like it just stopped. But, as the days go on I would like to share some of them with all of you. Maybe they will touch you heart in some way. Sorry the print is so small.

This afternoon Charlene from "My Heart's Ease", Candy from "Rock Candy", Charlene's grandson Austin and I all went to lunch in Grapevine. Was so nice to meet Candy. Making friends in blogland is the best part. Candy got Charlene and I together and now we got to meet Candy. She is so cute and so much fun. If all goes well I am going back Saturday. Candy and I will do the town as Austin said. Should be lots of fun. I'll take the camera and try to get some pics.

DO YOU LIKE CRUNCHY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES?

That's what my cousin asked me, she said, you know the real good crunchy ones we had as a kid back in the early fifties. You know most chocolate chip cookies are chewy now not crunchy. Well Patsy, my cousin, still had her fifties recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies. And they are as good today as back then. So I thought I would share her recipe with all who wants it. She says the secret is not to put butter in the cookies. Maybe so.

The Fifties Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cream together 1 cup Crisco, 1 cup dark brown sugar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 t. vanilla and 2 large eggs.

Sift 2 cups flour, 1 t. baking soda, 1 t. salt together, then combine to sugar mixture. Mix well, then add 1 cup chopped pecans and 12 oz. package of chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake @ 375 degrees about 8 to 13 minutes until good and brown. Makes about 5 dozen, more it you make smaller cookies. Patsy always doubles this recipe. They keep good in a cookie tin. I make these with my kitchenaid mixer. So quick and easy.

MY TREASURES FROM YARD SALES TODAY

I have not been blogging lately, been feeling soooo tired. My doctor has changed my thyroid medicine so maybe I'll get to feeling better. Doing pretty good today, just hope it keeps up.

I went to a few yard sales today, didn't find much, but this one lady had these two light fixtures that were not all together, but I liked them anyway. I want to make towel hangers for my kitchen with them. And this pretty tarnished tea pot. All of them was only $3. I like these kind of bargins.

QC Vest with Silk Ribbon Embroidery

Thought I might show you some of my vests that I made back in the 90's. I walked into a fabric store and there was a lady there that was doing silk ribbon embroidery and I fell in love with it. I took a lesson and started buying books and then I found Judith Baker Montano and she put Crazy Quilting with her silk ribbon embroidery and I loved it. So I had to try my hand at it. The first vest I'm showing you is one I made for my aunt. She is 93 now. She lived with me for about three years. She loved bright colors. The second one is the one I made for myself. My favorite color is purple and you can tell by this vest. It has a lot of pins on it that I collected and some were given to me by friends. Some of the buttons were my Grannies, they are very special. The larged framed embroidery was done for a Christmas present for my Mother. She loved it. The three that are hanging together I made to put in my room. And the last one I just did it for fun. I made lots of thing during those years and gave away. I made a vest for my best friend and did ribbon embroidery on a denim vest for her. It had roses on the front and back. I think she probably has more of my work than anyone else. She loved my work. I may start doing some more of this since I'm not painting much any more. I know I have one project I'm going to do with CQ and embroidery and sewing machine drawers. Hope you enjoy!

SATURDAY WAS A HOT TRADE DAY

Saturday was my day for the Trade Day Flea Market here in my little part of Fort Worth. It started out good, got there to set up and it was just coming light. The heat wasn't so bad. I could take my time getting things in order, it wasn't suppose to start until nine. Of course some people always come early and then you have the ones that are driving by and see a sale and you can hear the brakes squeling. Those are the ones like me. I always brake for a good sale.

As the people started coming things started selling and as long as we were in the shade it wasn't too bad. We didn't have as many people there buying as at most flea markets, but I can't complain, I had a very profitable day. It was really hot after around noon and by the time I was packing up it was horrible. Think the temp. was 102 or 103.

I finally got home about 4:30, took a cool shower and hit the bed. Stayed there all day Sunday and haven't done much today. With RA the heat and getting tired can really do a number on you. But if I rest enought I'll bounce back. Should be okay tomorrow.

I took more pictures of the dealers I'll try to post later and we had an Elvis impersonator. He was cute and sang pretty good. I know that poor guy was dripping wet by the time his show was over. All in all it was a real good day.

A THRIFTY THURSDAY FIND

Thought I would show you my cake stand I found at a garage sale last Saturday. It is a Silver Crest Fenton cake stand. I paid $2 for it and my cousin collects all kinds of Fenton and she said to price it at $5o to sell it. That's quite a profit it it sells for that. We went to an antique mall today and they had three pieces of silver crest Fenton and they were all smaller pieces and each had from 4o to 45 dollars on them. This one is perfect and so pretty. I will be going to another Trade Days Flea Market on July 11 and I will probably take my cake plate and try to sell it there.

The rose picture is a Sonie Ames print that I found in a resale shop in Arlington. I shop there quite often and have found several nice things. Sonie is a ceramic artist and paints the most beautiful flowers. She has some books, I would love to take some lessons from her and learn to paint on ceramics. But I will probably have to stick to other kinds of surfaces. You can find some of Sonie's work on the internet. She is great!!
