Today I want to tell you about the sweetest little romantic, girly, antique shop in Arlington, TX. If you like lacey things, lots of roses, old china, you name it Jana has got it. The name of her store is "COLLECTED TREASURES".....for the home, heart & soul http://collectedtreasures.blogspot.com/ It is located at 406 West Main Street in downtown Arlington. Jana's blog is located on the right hand side of my blog, same name as her shop. She has three rooms of beautiful, gorgeous treasures. Jana is so talented, she can do anything. I took some pictures when I was there last Friday, but my camera ran out of file space. I'll take some more later to show you. She is hosting a flea market behind her store the 9th of May. And has invited a lot of ladies to join her. That day she will close the shop and will sell from the flea market. Sounds like so much fun, and I hope some of you can come and share the fun.

Isn't the shop adorable. The clothes she makes and alters are so pretty along with the purses. She did the chipped china headboard, and paints roses, revamps lamps and lamp shades. I hope you enjoyed her little shop.

HAPPY EASTER

BEAUTIFUL FINDS OVER THE WEEKEND

These are some of the beautiful finds I found at garage sales this weekend. I love the old lace and just can't turn it down. I used to collect it to do CQ vests. I used to make them and sell in one of the antique malls. At that time I was doing a lot of ribbon embroidery. I love them both together. Last night I worked on a CQ pillow. Now I'm ready to start working on the embelishment. That's the fun part.




This is several yards of trim and it matches the beige material on the bottom. The teal is a lace dress. The skirt is gathered so there is lots of lace there.


This one is a scarf with lots of beautiful roses. A few peices of jewelery and a doiley.


This is an old crocheted doiley in ecru and pink. It is so pretty. And a key that was on a candle.


And this is a delicious collar from way back when. The front in the middle has a worn place, but the rest is fine. The work they did back then was out of this world. It will enlarge so you can get a better look. I think it is gorgeous.


And this one is another crocheted piece. Maybe a scarf to go on a little table. The work again is awsome. People that can crochet and tat this kind of work are so talented.

BEAUTIFUL LADY SCARVES

Thought I would share some scarves with you that I found at Lone Star Antique Mall. I plan to make three pillows out of them. The envelope kind of pillows. I tea dyed them yesterday, not real dark, just enough to take that stark white away. I think they would look real pretty in a blue bedroom.

IN MEMORY OF MY GRANNY

My grandmother, my best friend and one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known died fourteen years ago today. Granny was a joker so going on April's Fool Day was just like her. She had been ready for years. When she was still in her 90's, she asked me why the Lord was keeping her here so long. I told her she had to touch someones life or someone had to touch her life before the Lord would be ready for her. She said, "I wish we could hurry it up, I'm tired and would like to go home". That was my Granny. At her funeral the pastor said Granny was the only person he knew that had never said a bad word against another person. She was special!

This is a picture of her and her boyfriend, they are the couple on the right. The girl on the left I think is her sister. This was taken when she was sixteen, torn in half and taped with old black tape. I treasure this picture. She looked to pretty.





This next picture is of her on her 100th birthday. She only had three of her children left, but nearly all of the grand children were there. She had so many friends. And she was the oldest member of her little church. She live by herself until she was a little over 100 and fell and went to the nursing home, after therpy she came home again for a while. She really loved her little home. She was still making quilts in her 80's and had a little garden. "I came from good stock". Her name was Nancy Ann Mary Magdelene Riddlespurger Close. And every one called her Annie, Granny, or Granny Annie. Even at 100 she was still a beautiful lady!





My day has been spent doing things around the house and thinking of this wonderful lady. I guess if I said I had a hero it was granny, my mom and dad. Now they are all together again waiting for the rest of us.

A CURB SIDE FIND

This little container is something that I found at the curb a few blocks from my house. I guess the lady had did some spring cleaning. I also found some tall candle holders and a new diaper bag that still had the tags on it. When I found the container I didn't know for sure what it was for, I guess to carry food. I've had it a long time just sitting in the garage. Then one day, while looking at it a light bulb came on, and I filled it with some of the old jewelery and things that I have been collecting forever. It wouldn't hold all the jewelery, but it holds quite a bit. And it doesn't take up too much space. Wish I could find a few more of these, they are very good storage containers.

MY LACY PILLOW

This is what I have been working on for the past few days. Started out dying material and lace with tea. Some of the lace is new and some is vintage. The pocket was an old white work scarf with butterflies. It even had some holes in it worn from time. But I loved the buterflies and I like to reuse and update things. The crochet on the back was some I found at a yard sale. I have been wanting to make some pillows for a while, and seeing so many of these lace pillows just made me get with it. I plan to make some more, they are so much fun to work on. Hope you enjoyed my little adventure with pillows, I know I sure did!
