This afternoon a little before five I went to an early estate sale. I'm on an email list and they let us come early. And I wasn't the first person in the door, but everyone missed this gorgeous Rosevill vase and I swooped it up. It is listed in the book for $240. I paid $25. Usually at that price it will have a chip or broke somewhere. This one is perfect, only a little crazing from age. I was sure lucky today.

I got up this morning and went for a thirty minute walk. It was so humid that by the time I got back to the house I was soaking wet and the sun was just coming up. I jumped in the shower and made my bed and started working on some of the pottery that I have. After finishing that I started working on some other projects. This journal was one of them. I found this leather journal in a thrift store several months ago, but today I started digging in my lace and things and came up with this.

The picture on the front is from a vintage greeting card and the lace is all vintage. I dyed the grapes and the flower in the corner. This is my first altered journal.

This is a close up of the back. It has the same vintage lace & flower, but I had to put this lovely butterfly back here.

This is another close up of the front. It has a brown elastic band that holds it together. Right on top of all that vintage lace.

And this is the inside. The pages are brown like paper sacks.

This journal was so much fun to make. It reminded me of some of the bridal albums I used to make years ago. I love working with vintage lace, it makes me feel good just to touch something that has been around for a long time. Some of the old lace came from clothes and I wonder who wore them and if they loved the lace as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a restful night and sweet day tomorrow.
Smiles,
Pat
